Details
In the final film of our first Macho Misfits series, Walter Matthau’s Morris Buttermaker and his little league team are the embodiment of the series. Saying this group of characters is flawed would be an understatement; they are awkward, uncoordinated and disorderly, with an aging coach who is unrefined and lacks motivation. But he can be endearing and caring, and can think outside the box. It’s a gem of a film that is hilarious, moving, and memorable. The cast is brilliant, the kids make you care and laugh, Matthau is as reliable as ever and O’Neal and Haley have the acting chops of performers well beyond their years. It’s the perfect film for spring and will have you thinking about it long after you’ve left the cinema. So bring some friends and experience it together. (VANYA GARRAWAY)
