SHE WAS YOUNG. SHE WAS BEAUTIFUL. SHE WAS THE NEXT.
When a beautiful model, Alison Parker, rents an apartment in a gloomy New York brownstone, little does she realize that an unspeakable horror awaits her behind its doors… a mysterious gateway to hell.
Produced by Universal Studios to capitalize on the recent success of religious horror such as THE EXORCIST and THE OMEN, and directed by Michael Winner (THE MECHANIC, DEATH WISH I-III), THE SENTINEL is most certainly a product of its age which for better or worse would never see the light of day now from a major studio. A Grande Guignol of claustrophobic urban horror, exploitation shocks, and Christian mythology that merges the awkward encounters of your strange neighbours with the denizens of Hell. Did I mention that there is also a birthday party for a cat? This film has it all. - Steven Landry
