About this Event
Eimear Hanratty of acclaimed architects O’Donnell & Tuomey presents the story behind the new Sadler’s Wells Dance Theatre in Stratford, a landmark project in urban regeneration. Designed to echo the industrial heritage of the area, the building is conceived as timeless and deeply embedded in its surroundings, with a façade of handmade Venetian brick and tile that creates a unified, tactile architectural language.
The talk explores how the project’s material expression is extended through the use of Sk1n Tiles by Sant Anselmo, a terracotta façade and roofing system that allows a seamless transition between walls and roof. Combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary fabrication, the system helps define the building’s distinctive saw-tooth roofscape and reinforces its cohesive, enduring presence within the urban fabric.
