Anichi Moon (Ching-I Chang)
Ocean Between Our Names (premiere)
Anichi Moon’s Oceans Between Our Names explores migration, diasporic memory, and how displacement lives within the body over time. The work originated in December 2025 from a dream and a ritual of folding paper boats; a practice born from longing for home. It reflects on how distance turns memory into a beacon of hope, using black, white, and colored paper to give physical shape to nostalgic fragments. Paper boats act as central motifs and metaphors for the body: fragile, vulnerable, yet capable of carrying history across uncertain terrain. The work traces migration journeys across separate oceans, unfolding in parallel worlds shaped by distance, loss, persistence, and adaptation. Oceans Between Our Names invites audiences into quiet acts of witness, reflecting on personal histories and the courage required for transformation.
Performed by Marie Lloyd Paspe, Maria Takeuchi aka ÉMU, Ibrahima Sidibe, and Anichi Moon (Ching-I Chang). Music by Maria Takeuchi aka ÉMU. Design by Anichi Moon (Ching-I Chang).
Tristan Koepke | Big Boy Dance
Bunk Beds (New York premiere)
Drawing inspiration from Andie Nordgren’s manifesto for relationship anarchy, Bunk Beds (2025) reiterates and expands choreographic material and creative inquiries from Tristan Koepke's previous collaborations with dance artist Benny Olk, There’s Only One Bed (2023) and There’s More Than One Bed (2024), into a performance that ruptures and refracts into something uniquely new. This work includes nods to Merce Cunningham and John Cage's chance procedures, pop culture references, thirst traps, and high-intensity athletics. Seeking to reframe and transcend conventional narratives of Cunningham and Cage’s collaborations, which often diminish their queer romance and radicalism, Bunk Beds catalyzes the ways in which LGBTQ+ artistic legacies are preserved, embodied, and reimagined through new performance. Bunk Beds premiered at Cove Street Arts in April 2025.
Directed by Tristan Koepke. Performed by Emilia Bruno, Tristan Koepke, Daniel Miramontes, Benny Olk, Christina Robson, and Curtis Thomas. Dramaturgy: Rebecca Steinberg. Lighting design by Audrey Kastner. Sound design by Tristan Koepke. Music composed by Ethan Philbrick.
Running time: 90 minutes with a 15-minute intermission.
