About this Event
Join the Ontario Society of Senior Citizens Organizations (OSSCO) for a day of learning, meaningful conversations, and community connection as we work together to address elder abuse and ageism.
Everyone deserves to age with dignity, respect, and confidence. Yet, elder abuse and ageism continue to affect the lives of older adults, often in ways that go unnoticed or unaddressed.
This November, OSSCO invites older adults, families, caregivers, community organizations, and advocates to come together for an important conversation about recognizing elder abuse, challenging age-related stereotypes, and building safer, more inclusive communities.
Through informative discussions, shared experiences, and practical resources, this conference aims to strengthen awareness, encourage meaningful dialogue, and empower participants with the knowledge and confidence to recognize concerns, seek support, and advocate for themselves and others.
What Can You Expect?
- Recognizing Elder Abuse: Better understand the different forms of elder abuse, including less visible signs, and learn how to recognize situations of concern.
- Challenging Ageism: Explore how age-related assumptions and stereotypes affect older adults and what we can do to create more respectful and inclusive communities.
- Knowing Your Rights and Resources: Learn about available supports and where to turn for information, guidance, and assistance.
- Building Confidence and Connections: Engage in meaningful conversations, exchange perspectives, and discover ways to support yourself and others.
- Coming Together as a Community: Connect with fellow older adults, caregivers, and community organizations who share a commitment to dignity and respect at every stage of life.
