Museumnacht OSCAM x What’s Culture: Portraits of ancestors
OSCAM is partnering with What’s Culture for this year’s edition of Museumnacht Amsterdam. We’re hosting Portraits of ancestors, a hands-on workshop by multidisciplinary artist NÉNÉ.
Building on our current exhibition Materialising Memories by Bevan Agyemang, the workshop explores how memories, cultural heritage and personal histories live on through the things we make and the stories we pass down. Using African fabrics, recycled textiles and other materials, you’ll create a portrait of an ancestor, yourself or someone you love.
NÉNÉ’s practice draws on Afrofuturism and African histories, exploring how knowledge and ways of being continue to shape our present. During the workshop, she invites you to explore these connections in your own creative practice.
