Kunsthal Extra City opens the first posthumous exhibition of Guillaume Bijl. Twenty-four years after its original presentation during Kunstenfestival Watou in 2002, In Remembrance of the Earldom of Watou is being reconstructed for the first time.
A fictional-historical museum, a banquet hall and the only theatre piece in Bijl’s oeuvre come together in an exceptional installation where fact and fiction constantly intertwine.
During the festive opening, the work comes to life once again, with two live performances of The Early Years of the Earldom of Watou and a tableau vivant featuring performers in medieval costume, bringing the fictional Earldom of Watou literally into the city.
