Shoreditch Sandbox on Worship Street, E14 is a new space for making, experimenting and bringing people together around ideas, materials and creativity.
Join Cheeky Studio at Shoreditch Sandbox for a hands-on textile experience where you’ll help create a collaborative wall-hanging inspired by the history of Worship Street - and make your own coaster to take home.
Create alongside other makers to bring the custom artwork to life. Led by East End based tufting design studio Cheeky Studio, you’ll take turns in pairs using tufting guns to create sections of the piece, with each pair adding their own colour and mark.
The artwork is part of First Threads, Shoreditch Sandbox’s launch season exploring the area’s long history of making and creativity. Its design follows a single, unbroken thread across the canvas, changing shape and colour as it travels through time - from Worship Street’s open fields and historic foundries to merchant tailors, Philip Webb’s 1861 craft terraces and local factories.
Your contribution will become part of a finished artwork that is permanently displayed at Shoreditch Sandbox.
Alongside the collaborative wall-hanging, you’ll create your own small textile piece to take home. With guidance from the Cheeky Studio team, you’ll experiment with colour, texture and tufting to make a coaster of your own.

Who is it for?
No previous tufting or textile experience is needed. Whether you’re a local resident, student, designer, creative, or simply curious to try something new, you’re very welcome.
