Interested in performing? Please send an email to [email protected] with your contact info and what style of dance. 4-minute limit. Music needed by Oct. 1st. All dancers must register for at least two workshops to perform in the showcase. Dressing Area at Venue (upstairs).

Saturday workshops and showcase are held at: The Portage Yacht Club, 8930 Dexter-Pinckney Rd, Pinckney, MI 48169
Sunday workshop will be held at: One Spirit Dance & Fitness, 118 W. Main St., Pinckney, MI 48169. Parking and Entrance located at the back of the building. Park and walk up the driveway next to the hardware store, enter the door on the left, take the stairs to the door and turn left.

- Full Weekend Package 3 Workshops + Showcase Ticket Early Bird- $112.50 ($135 after August 30th)
- Saturday full day:
$75 Early Bird/$90 after 8/30/26
- Sunday Workshop:
$37.50 Early Bird/$45 after 8/30/26
A la carte: Early Bird - $37.50 per 1.5 hour workshop ($45 after August 30th)

Saturday Workshops w/Joanna Abel and/or Maria Hamer

JOANNA - Combos Opulent – Let’s get fancy and sophisticated with elegant combos that include fluid undulations, beautiful poses, stylized arm pathways, and decorative articulations. We will focus on executing each isolation with precision and grace. Fine-tune your dance skills by learning these grand movement sequences that command attention. Then take these combos home and leave your audience captivated with your postures, poise, and regal stage presence. All Levels.
LUNCH 12:30 - 1:45 (see restaurants below or bring a bag lunch)
2:00pm-3:30pm
MARIA - Midnight Walk - I invite you to explore movements that illustrate unique narratives of the body. Detailing specific isolations from the head to the toe. Let this most intricate yet emotive choreographies bring out precision, intrigue, and mystery!

CHRISTINE - Floating on Air - Moving seamlessly while dancing with a veil with fluid ease… This is my goal when dancing with a veil. We’ve all had our moments that are quite cooperate. This workshop hopes to inspire the idea of allowing the veil to be almost a partner in the dance. With less focus on mechanical movements and more on the improvisation that comes along with the nature of this seemingly untamable prop.
Please bring a veil~ silk preferred.

About the Instructors:
Joanna Abel discovered her passion for belly dance in 2005 and has been igniting stages ever since! With nearly two decades of devoted study and performance, she brings her vibrant energy to workshops and shows across the country.
She is the founder and owner of 3rd Street Belly Dance Studio in Pittsburgh, PA, a welcoming creative home where dancers of all levels are encouraged to explore movement boldly through weekly classes, workshops, and retreats. Joanna is also the visionary producer of the Enchanted Creature Ball, a fantastical dance and live music event she has brought to life for six years, as well as Enchanted Tarot, featuring Zoe Jakes’ iconic House of Tarot.
Joanna has toured the East Coast with Beats Antique from 2024 to 2026 and has been a proud member of Starry Moon Dance Company, since 2019, alongside Maria Hamer and Christine Andrews. She directs and choreographs for her student troupes, Dear Heart Dance and 3rd Street Belly Dance, creating imaginative fusion and theatrical works. Trained by influential artists including Amy Sigil, Olivia Kissel, Zoe Jakes, and Jill Parker, Joanna’s artistry is rooted in creativity, collaboration, and fearless expression.
Maria Hamer is a long time bellydancer/ Middle Eastern performer of Pittsburgh, Pa, training tirelessly & passionately for over 3 decades with some of the most sought after teachers in this dance form including Jill Parker, Suhaila Salimpour, Zoe Jakes, Helena Vlahos & Aisha Ali. Maria continues to delve deeper into the physical techniques and modern compositions as well as exploring 'vintage American" style bellydances. She has co- directed & helped in pioneering East Coast companies such as 'Folkloric inspired' Ghawazee Middle Eastern Music & Dance Ensemble in the mid 90's to the more theatrical & contemporary elements of award winning Zafira Dance Company, active for over 11 years.
She's traveled the globe studying, teaching, performing & has collaborated with some of the most notable dancers in her genre such as: Jill Parker, Zoe Jakes, & many others. In April 2023 she had the great opportunity to perform in the 70+ year old dance company Bal Anat as a double sword dancer in Albuquerque, NM. Currently as a solo artist, she collaborates with her sisters Christine Andrews & Jennifer Imashev as 'The Hamer Sisters' as well as with local dance artist, Joanna Abel as Starry Moon Dance Co. As a local Pittsburgh teacher and Bellydance community supporter she contributes with her exciting student troupe Vetiver. She holds certifications in the Suhaila (L2) & Jamila (L2) as well as a Salimpour School Fundamentals Licensed Instructor , Key of Diamonds in Zoe Jakes's format, & Alchemy in Jill Parker format.
Christine Andrews began her study of world dance in 1988 with Turkish style bellydance. She was a founding member in both Zafira Dance Company and Ghawazee Middle Eastern Dance Ensemble.
In 1999 she traveled to India to study Kalbelia (Sapera), the dance of the snake charmers. This folkloric dance from Rajasthan, known for its high energy spins and intricate hands, has become an integral part of her dancing. She’s had the great honor of performing in India alongside her dance guru, Gulabi Sapera, widely known and respected a the primary innovator/”mother” of this dance form.
Nowadays, she has the pleasure of performing with her sisters, Maria Hamer and Anya Castelli as the Hamer Sisters and with Maria Hamer and Joanna Abel in Starry Moon Dance Company.
