About this Event
Bankside has been associated with beer and brewing for centuries. The riverfront from here to Bermondsey was once dominated by docks, wharves and breweries - and the powerful smells that came with them.
But why did brewing flourish here?
Those breweries have long disappeared. Yet clues to Bankside’s famously “smelly industries” survive. All is not lost. Our historic pubs continue to thrive at the heart of a vibrant and diverse neighbourhood.
Join storyteller Mr Londoner to explore Bankside’s sometimes chaotic past and uncover the surprising stories behind some of its best watering holes - with opportunities to sample their wares.
The tour lasts approximately two hours and is free to Better Bankside members.
