About this Event
It Means: God Is Great
A solo exhibition by Gizelle Hadeed, presented by ONCE REMOVED
October 1 - 26, 2026
Gallery Hours: Sunday & Monday, 10AM-2PM
Actualize is honored to welcome ONCE REMOVED as the Fall Curatorial Resident in the Actualize Yesler Gallery, now through December 21, 2026!
Their first exhibition, It Means: God Is Great, is a selection of textile works by Seattle-based artist Gizelle Hadeed, presented by ONCE REMOVED at Actualize AiR. The body of work explores Hadeed’s experience of reckoning with being a Middle Eastern diaspora kid, now as an adult, and the complicated guilt of being American while her parent’s homeland continues to border on ceasing to exist. Both anecdotal and deeply personal, the works merge memories of growing up in the 2000s with the technology, imagery, and language of the era.
It Means: God Is Great will be on view through October 26th. The artist will be present for final gallery hours so stop by between 10AM-2PM for your last chance to see the show!

ONCE REMOVED is an ongoing curatorial project by Sam Skidmore and Zoë Hensley that brings artists into temporary, nontraditional spaces. Historically, their exhibitions have taken place in Seattle houses slated for demolition, where artists respond directly to the site through installation, sound, and performance. For the Actualize curatorial residency, they continue this exploration of place and impermanence, and the ways art can temporarily transform a space before it disappears.
