On the Fly: The Essentials An introduction to fly fishing built for every age and skill level — leave knowing how to catch fish anywhere.
Location: 3500 N State Route 89A - Private Property
Hosted By: Tailwater Fly Co.
The Essentials covers what actually matters: how to read water, what trout are eating, and how to put together a cast that holds up when a fish is looking at it.
It’s a fun, casual event on the beautiful banks above Oak Creek, not a classroom — shaded, fishable spring water, easy pace, good company. We start with casting mechanics and entomology, then head down to the farm’s tailwater to fish alongside our guide. You’ll leave with sharper skills, a clearer read on the water, and — if you choose — a rod of your own.
Best for: anyone who wants a real, complete grounding in fly fishing — first-timers and experienced anglers alike, over the age of 8 years old.
Every clinic includes:
~ 4 hours of instruction — classroom-style education paired with hands-on casting practice
~ Small-group coaching, roughly one instructor per 5 people
~ All casting and practice equipment provided on-site
~ Option to take home an entry-level fly rod combo, built into your registration
~ Light snacks and drinks (bring your own beverages, too)
