About this Event
Who: IIDA Members and Friends
What: Nebraska Advocacy | Advocacy Isn't Scary Book Swap
Join us for Advocacy Isn’t Scary, a fun, low-pressure evening designed to make civic engagement feel a little less intimidating—and a lot more approachable.
Bring a book that inspired you, made you brave, challenged your thinking, or introduced you to a character you admire. Bringing a book is completely optional! If you bring one, you’ll have the opportunity to share what you loved about it before swapping books with another attendee.
We’ll also hear from one of our lobbyists, Julia Pucker, who will give us a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming election, including the 10 open legislative seats for Nebraska, and what those changes could mean for our profession. She’ll share her helpful candidate guide and answer questions about how designers can begin building relationships with the people who represent them.
Come ready to talk about books, meet other designers, learn a little about Nebraska government, and leave feeling more confident about using your voice. Advocacy doesn’t have to be scary—it starts with showing up, asking questions, and connecting with people.
