A Roundtable Discussion on Artificial Intelligence in Architecture, Engineering & Construction

Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming the way we design, document, coordinate, and construct our built environment. But what does this mean for the professionals behind the work?

Join AIA California Central Coast for a special interactive Lunch & Learn bringing together perspectives from architecture, construction, technology, and academia to explore the opportunities, challenges, and implications of AI integration across the AEC industry.

Rather than a traditional lecture, this roundtable will encourage an engaging exchange of ideas, practical insights, and forward-thinking conversations about how AI may shape our industry over the next several years.

About This Session

AI is no longer just a futuristic concept. From automating repetitive tasks and supporting project documentation to enhancing research, estimating, and design coordination, AI-powered technologies are beginning to influence everyday professional workflows.

Our panelists will discuss the current state of AI adoption, emerging applications, and what professionals and firms should consider as these tools become increasingly accessible.

Discussion topics include:

  • AI's emerging role in architectural design, documentation, and project delivery.
  • Opportunities for improving efficiency, accuracy, and collaboration.
  • Practical applications in construction and estimating.
  • The integration of AI agents in architectural education and professional training.
  • Challenges involving accuracy, professional judgment, accountability, and responsible implementation.
  • How professionals and firms can prepare for the next three to five years of technological change.

Whether you're already experimenting with AI tools or just beginning to explore their potential, this session offers an opportunity to learn, ask questions, and contribute to a conversation about the future of our profession.
