
About this Event
During the Nuyorican Poets Cafe's building's "Nuyorican-Struction", the cafe brings their famous poetry slam series to the Bowery Poetry Club on 308 Bowery (between E. Houston & Bleecker Streets) in Manhattan, NYC. Bob Holman, founder of the Bowery Poetry Club, welcomes the Nuyorican Slam that he started 35 years ago! Weekly on Monday evenings, in-person. Tickets: $20 in advance/online or at the door. Hosted by JRose & Luna Rosa.
- Line starts at 6 P.M.- Doors open at 6:30 P.M.
- Sign up to perform at the stage (after doors open). The list is based on a first-come first-serve basis.
- Slam takes place from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
- Poets have 3 MINUTES to perform one original poem per round (any topic of their choosing).
- Scores range from a 0.0 to a 10.0 -- judges are randomly chosen from the audience.
- No musical accompaniment, no props on stage.
- Two rounds -- the top poets from the first round advance to the second round.
- Winner (combined score from both rounds) receives $20 cash and gets an invite to compete in the Nuyorican Poets Cafe's monthly Final Friday Slam at the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater.
