NUH Parent Education Classes (Face-to-Face)

An interactive and informative class to guide expectant moms and dads throughout the main steps of pregnancy, childbirth, postnatal period.
About this Event

We advise to book your Parent Education Classes for when you are between 30-36 weeks pregnant.

The face-to-face classes are 2 sessions + Tour of the Maternity Unit and are run by a specialist Parent Education Midwife.

P LEASE MAKE SURE YOU BOOK 2 DATES AS THE CLASS IS DIVIDED OVER 2 SESSIONS!

THE 1ST DAY OF THE WEEK IS THE FIRST PART AND 2ND DATE OF THE WEEK IS THE SECOND PART.

You can attend the sessions on different weeks, depending on your work-life schedule.

P LEASE, BE AWARE, CLASSES ARE AVAILABLE ONLY FOR PEOPLE THAT HAVE THEIR MATERNITY CARE UNDER NEWHAM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL.

If the booking does not have the required details (NUH care, Correct gestational age, 1 ticket xevent), it will be automatically cancelled.

By the end of these two sessions will have awareness of what to expect and how you can be prepared for the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period. Such as:

- Baby Bathing;

- Safe Sleeping (Preventing SIDS);

- Change Nappies;

- Physiological Stages of Labour;

- When it's the right time to attend Maternity Assessment Unit?;

-Natural Methods for coping in labour/pain relief/breathing techniques;

- Perineal Care;

- Low Risk/High Risk Care in Labour;

- When things deviates from normality? (Intrapartum Intervention);

- Postnatal period - Community Midwifery Care, Health Visitor, GP;

-Looking after your mental health/ transition to parenthood/building the relationship with your baby,

- Breastfeeding;
