Postnatal doulaing is the Cinderella of birth.Everyone shows up for the birth. Then the visitors leave, the partner goes back to work, and the woman or birthing person is left holding a newborn and a body that has just done something enormous. That's where the care drops off. That's where a postnatal doula steps in.
A postnatal doula is your mother without the politics.
WHAT THIS IS
Postnatal Sankofa is a 4-day, in-person postnatal doula training with Abuela Doulas, facilitated by Rubí Rodríguez Nieto. Rubí is a traditional postnatal practitioner from the Huasteca region of Mexico, a social anthropologist and a doula since 2019.
Four days. Body basics. Baby basics. Mind and nervous system. Home and relationships. Safety and escalation. Cultural tradition runs through every one of them. It doesn't sit beside them.
You leave able to support families in the weeks after birth, and to know when something is wrong and act on it. For Black and Brown birthing people, being dismissed in those weeks is not a small thing. You'll know what to do about it.
Anti-racism is not a session in this training. It is the architecture the whole thing is built on.
WHO IT'S FOR
Anyone who wants to train as a postnatal doula. You don't need to be a trained birth doula first. Postnatal work stands on its own. If you are already a birth doula, this is the half of the work most training leaves out.

Dates: Tuesday 3 to Friday 6 November 2026
Times: 10am to 4pm each day

Investment: £1,600. Pay in full or in 5 instalments. Longer plans by arrangement.
