Artists & Makers Studios Welcomes
“A Forest Meadow” with Montgomery County Woodturners
and Friendship Star Quilters, Mini-Solo for Maralyn May
(Rockville, MD) – Artists & Makers Studios is pleased to host Montgomery County Woodturners and Friendship Star Quilters for the month of November. The exhibit will run from November 4th through November 24th, with a First Friday opening on November 6th from 5-8pm. In this exhibit these two separate, traditional forms of artwork complement one another in their depictions of woodland meadows. After all, a meadow shows the hidden diversity within a forest when a tree has fallen, bringing forth a burst of flowers and smaller plants - providing quilters an opportunity to explore subject matter beyond trees. At the same time, the tree fall that creates such a meadow provides the wood that the wood-turning artists use to create their beautiful expressions of wonder.
Traditional art forms such as these strengthen communities in multiple ways, raising individual spirits as well as binding participants together into productive associations. Local craft clubs, including Montgomery County Woodturners and Friendship Star Quilters, provide a resource of originality and creativity. Maralyn May shares a mini-solo exhibit in the Lounge Gallery and Resident Artists exhibit new work in the Gallery Hall. Enjoy the sculptural work of Francis Maduka Uduh in studio 11, along with nineteen Gallery 209 Member Artists exhibiting their latest work. Enjoy a visit from Butterfly Spirits - the current Butterfly Spirits portfolio includes elderberry vodka, botanical liqueur, hazelnut whiskey and three vodka soda canned offerings. Light fare generously sponsored each month by The Chesapeake Framing Company.
