Banned Book Club is back, hosted in collaboration with Book Talk SLC.
Each month we pick a book that's been challenged or banned, dig into why, and make something out of it — thoughtful conversation, creativity, and community, all in one room.
This month: TILT by Ellen Hopkins — four teens, one wild summer, and more family chaos than most school boards know what to do with. We're taking the "banned" part literally: you'll blackout a real page of banned text and turn it into your own poem, then frame it up to take home.
Chloe from Book Talk SLC leads the discussion — the book, banned literature, and why resisting censorship matters.
What your ticket includes: • A page from a banned book, yours to blackout into an original poem • A frame to decorate at our full craft bar — paints, gems, glue, washi tape, and more • Guided discussion led by Chloe • A cozy night with fellow readers
