Reactive Social
A private Happy Dance group event for dogs who need a little more space, structure, or support around other dogs.
And just to be very clear: “reactive” does not mean aggressive, dangerous, or bad. A reactive dog is simply a dog who has a bigger response to certain things in their environment. That might look like barking, pulling, freezing, staring, getting overly excited, becoming nervous, or needing more distance. Some reactive dogs are social. Some are selective. Some are worried. Some are just easily overwhelmed.
Our Reactive Socials are structured group walks designed to make being around other dogs feel more predictable and manageable. We use distance, movement, thoughtful positioning, controlled exposure, and clear handling so dogs are not being thrown into greetings or crowded situations. Nobody is expected to “just deal with it.” We make adjustments throughout the walk based on what each dog is showing us, and our Group Pass Leaders help owners understand when to create space, when to keep moving, and when their dog is ready for a little more.
The goal is not to make your dog love every dog they see. The goal is to help them become more neutral, recover faster, handle the environment with less stress, and build confidence being around other dogs without feeling like something has to happen.
These events work best when you come routinely, not once in a while. One good walk can be helpful, but repetition is what creates familiarity. Over time, dogs begin to recognize the structure, understand what is expected, and stop treating the presence of other dogs like such a big event. That consistency is where we often see the biggest changes in recovery, confidence, leash handling, and overall comfort in public.
Owners benefit too. You get real-life practice reading your dog, managing distance, handling the leash, and learning what actually helps your dog in the moment. It is much easier to build confidence when you are not trying to figure everything out alone.
This is a private Group Pass event and registration is required.
