About this Event
What are the forces influencing the food we eat? How can local action strengthen food security, nutrition and biodiversity? How do we ensure enough food in a time of climate change? And can we loosen the corporate stranglehold on our food systems?
While these challenges are global, this day’s focus is on what they mean for Sussex’s own communities and how local action can strengthen food security, nutrition and the wellbeing of the land that feeds us.
Speakers and facilitators include:
- Derin Elegbede – Youth activist and trustee at Bite Back, campaigning for healthier food in schools and beyond
- Stuart Gillespie – Author, Food Fight and Fellow of International Food Policy Research Institute
- Emily O'Brien - Green Party Cabinet Member for Climate, Nature and Food Systems at Lewes District Council
Participants will be invited to discuss how we can create a future where everyone has access to healthy, affordable food, and where wildlife-friendly food growing and production take centre stage. Share your thoughts and explore new ideas in the company of local growers and food enterprises already seeking to build a healthier agroecological food system.
