Something we've been working on in the background for months is finally about to open its doors and if you follow the Dorset Echo you might have already caught the news, but my friend Benji Weeratunge, who paints under the name Hot Noodle, is launching his first solo exhibition at Olive & Wilde Studios across the weekend of the 23rd and 24th of October, running then through to the 20th of November, and I wanted to make sure you were on the guest list for the launch event.Benji’s a Camden kid who spent twenty years dancing on stages with Kylie and Pharrell, worked with the choreographers behind Michael Jackson and Beyoncé, and became one of the resident stars of Fama ¡a bailar! on Spanish prime time, before lockdown pushed him back to the acrylics and spray cans and a whole second life in Dorset.
The exhibition is called Nothign is Perfetc, deliberately misspelled, and brings together eleven large scale original works built up through acrylic, spray paint, hand drawn text and comic book cut outs, with sayings and half remembered phrases layered beneath the surface. The whole studio is being transformed for it, and there are large originals, embellished prints, and standard prints available to buy, with some special offers across launch weekend that we’ll share more about soon.
Saturday the 24th, 11am till 5pm, is the public launch party. Red carpet out, drinks, music and special guests. Guest list gets first refusal on entry
