### NEWARK FIRST FRIDAYS PRESENTS: PARLOR THINGS### *An intimate evening of sound, story, art + conversation.*

Newark First Fridays returns to **Express Newark** for another intimate edition of **Parlor Things**—a slower, more intentional take on the First Friday experience.
This month, we’re creating a room where guests can **listen closely, encounter live art, and connect through shared stories**.
Rather than moving from one big performance to the next, Parlor Things invites you to settle in, move around, and experience the room at your own pace.
### 🎧 AUDIO SCRIPTED PODCAST LISTENING
Step into an intimate, headphone-powered listening experience featuring a **scripted audio podcast activation** created specifically for the room.
For approximately 30 minutes, guests will be invited to put on a pair of wireless headphones and enter the world of the story—an immersive blend of **voice, sound, music, and narrative** designed to be experienced collectively while remaining personal.
The format creates space to listen differently: less stage, more story; less spectacle, more presence.
Following the listening experience, guests will have an opportunity to **reflect, converse, and connect around what they heard.**
### 🎨 LIVE ART
We'll also bring **live art into the room**, featuring a Newark-area artist creating in real time throughout the evening.
The exact artist and format are forthcoming, but expect an opportunity to **watch the creative process unfold up close**—another layer of the evening to discover as you move through the space.
### 🎶 SOUND + SOCIAL
And, as always, sound remains central to the Parlor Things experience.
Expect a carefully considered musical environment designed to complement the evening—not overpower it.
