Head over to Working From_ at The Hoxton, Chicago, and be the first to hear fresh bits from some of Chicago’s best comedians. New Material Night will see the likes of Kathryn Gongaware, Vik Pandya, Chelsea Hood, Tyler Fowler, and Lele Mason. They'll tap our sense of humor as their (willing) guinea pigs.
The best midweek, post-work pick-me-up with one beer or glass of wine, on us (followed by a cash bar).
The Comedians
Kathryn Gongaware
Kathryn Gongaware is an overeducated and under-focused comedian, writer, actor and hypocrite. By day, teaches yoga at Cook County J*il. On stage, she's known for her dry wit, an unfortunate amount of self-awareness, and race takes that won't ruin your night. Kathryn is a paid regular at The Laugh Factory, Zanies and The Second City in Chicago and has opened for Rosebud Baker, Beth Stelling, and Kevin Bozeman on the road. She produces Sofar Sounds Comedy and hosts Beyond Bars, a podcast amplifying stories around the criminal justice system. Her first special dropped with LMAOF Comedy last year alongside her web series, Not Flexible. Between sets and scripts she can also be found maintaining her perfect losing streak at pool.
Vik Pandya
Vik Pandya is a nationally touring comedian known for his sharp self-deprecation, observational humor on dating, and hilarious crowd work. His debut album Friends With 401(k) Benefits premiered #1 on iTunes and Top 10 on the Billboard Charts, & his latest album can be heard on SiriusXM. Vik’s specials across Dry Bar Comedy, Only Fans TV, and YouTube have amassed thousands of views. A veteran of 25 comedy festivals across the country—including San Francisco’s Sketchfest and NBC’s Breakout Fest—Vik has opened for Trevor Wallace, Roy Wood Jr., and Michelle Wolf, and is a frequent opener for international superstars like Vir Das and Zakir Khan. He can be seen regularly at The Laugh Factory, Zanies, & The Improv in Chicago. Vik also produces Sofar Sounds and hosts the popular podcast The Business of Comedy. His work has been featured in Vulture, SubwayTakes, and the Chicago Tribune. Follow him @vikpandya
Chelsea Hood
Chelsea Hood is a stand up comedian living in Chicago, IL by way of the comedy scenes in both Dallas, TX and Brooklyn, NY. You may have seen her on WGN, The CW Network's Eye Opener, or CW33's Nightcap. Chelsea's style of humor is observational, feminist, and pleasantly self-deprecating. Some of the comics she has been delighted to open for include; Marc Maron, Jay Mohr, Donnell Rawlings, Maria Bamford, Ralphie May, Richard Lewis, Pauly Shore, JB Smoove, Paul Rodriguez, Tom Green, Michael Winslow, Bobby Lee, and many more. She was most frequently featured performer at Limestone Comedy Festival, one of eight chose as the Best of the Midwest at Gilda’s LaughFest and a Comic to Watch at RIOT LA. Some of the clubs and venues she's had the privilege of performing at include The Comedy Store, Caroline's on Broadway, The House of Blues, The Improv, Zanie’s, Thalia Hall Chicago, Upright Citizen's Brigade NY, the Lincoln Lodge (Chicago), a long list of prestigious bar basements across this country. Once on the bed of a tractor trailer, in a field in Texas, in the middle of an ATV park.
Tyler Fowler
Tyler Fowler is a nationally touring comedian who expertly weaves relatable anecdotes about marriages, kids and jobs - none of which he has - to create a show you won't want to miss. His debut album Friends With 401(k) Benefits premiered #1 on iTunes and Top 10 on the Billboard Comedy Charts and was followed by a 30 minute special with Drybar Comedy titled Little Spoon and an hour special with Comedy Dynamics titled My Mom Said I Can’t Go. Recently, he was featured in Season 10 of Stories From The Stage on PBS. Based in Chicago Tyler can be seen regularly at The Laugh Factory and Zanies Comedy Clubs.
Lele Mason
Lele Mason is a rising actress, dancer, comedienne and professional guide in corporate leadership, professional development, team building, and communication. Using her Masters degree in Public Administration from North Carolina Central University; she learned to combine her understanding of organizational development with comedy to enhance professional environments. In 2012, she began her career in acting and comedy through improvisation at the world renowned Second City Training Center Chicago. There, she met and co-founded the all black female improvisation team EbonyEssenceJet. In 2017 she was selected for the fourth iteration of NBC Universals' Bob Curry Comedy Fellowship. While on her improv journey she wrote and starred in various one-woman shows. Making the transition to Stand-Up became a natural choice. She has been a public speaker, teacher, and corporate facilitator since 2005. Her goal is to always maintain and support: inclusive, fun, brave, and safe working environments. For your professional, organizational, corporate and comedic needs she is the lady to see.
