🧠 Lecture: "How Should One Live? The Psychology of Existential Thinking"
🎙️ Speaker: Dr. Fan Yang
What is the meaning of life? What is happiness? Who should we become? For thousands of years, people have wrestled with these questions. Drawing on cutting-edge research in psychology, Dr. Fan Yang will explore what science reveals about how we engage with life’s biggest questions—and how understanding human nature and human potential can illuminate possible answers.
Through thought experiments, surprising findings, and practical takeaways, this talk invites you to reflect on your own answer to one of humanity’s oldest and most important questions: How should I live?
Dr. Fan Yang is a Research Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Chicago, where she directs the Human Nature and Potentials Lab. Her work integrates social, cognitive, developmental, evolutionary, and philosophical psychology to study existential cognition—how people think about meaning, purpose, happiness, and morality—and to uncover better answers to what it means to be human and to live a good life.
