About this Event
Program Overview
Cytomegalovirus (CMV) remains one of the most common and clinically significant infectious complications following solid organ and allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. As recent advances have expanded the therapeutic landscape with newer antiviral agents for CMV prophylaxis and treatment, guideline recommendations have continued to evolve to support optimal CMV prevention, monitoring, and management. Keeping pace with indication expansions, updated guidelines, and emerging clinical data can be challenging, requiring clinicians to reassess how best to integrate evolving evidence into practice across diverse transplant populations. Through case-based discussion, join expert faculty as they examine the evolving roles of newer antiviral therapies, including letermovir and maribavir; review the latest guideline recommendations and emerging clinical data; and discuss their application to real-world transplant scenarios to optimize patient care.
Target Audience
This educational initiative is intended for transplant surgeons, cardiothoracic surgeons/clinicians, infectious disease clinicians, critical care clinicians, hospitalists, nurses, pharmacists, and other HCPs involved in the care of solid organ transplant recipients.
Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, learners should be better able to:
Evaluate the clinical data supporting the efficacy and safety of new CMV antivirals across patient populations and post-transplant settings
Identify key updates in guideline consensus recommendations for CMV management in solid organ transplant (SOT) and hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients
Develop evidence-based preventative and treatment plans using modern CMV antivirals
Assess potential drug-drug interactions with new CMV antivirals to minimize the risk of serious toxicities and adverse effects
