Can French Alsace Pinot Gris beat the world? Taste four Pinot Gris wines from around the world, followed by a traditional Alsatian dinner.
About this Event

Is French Alsace Pinot Gris the best Pinot Gris in the world? Come taste and decide for yourself!

Join us for a fun, interactive wine tasting experience celebrating Pinot Gris around the world — followed by a traditional Alsace dinner.

The evening will begin with an interactive introduction to the art of wine tasting. Caroline Whiteman, WSET Levl 3 certified wine expert and Alsace DC President will guide you through the basics of tasting wine.

Then comes the fun part: a comparative tasting of four Pinot Gris/Pinot Grigio wines from around the world: Alsace - France, United States, Italy and New Zealand.

Taste them side by side and discover how climate, terroir, winemaking and regional traditions can create remarkably different wines from the same grape.

The tasting will be followed by a traditional Alsatian 3-course dinner at the French Embassy in Washington DC.

Menu

Appetizer: Paté en croûte
A classic French charcuterie specialty made with a savory meat filling, served with a side salad.

Main Course: Bouchée à la Reine
A beloved Alsatian specialty: delicate puff-pastry shell filled with a rich and creamy sauce of poultry, wild mushrooms over traditional Alsatian Spaetzle noodles.

Dessert: Tarte aux myrtilles
A delicious blueberry pie featuring sweet, juicy blueberries in a buttery pastry crust.

Wines from Alsace will be available for purchase at a cash bar: Alsace Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and bubbly Cremant.

Dinner substitutions are not available. Doors open at 6pm, we will start at 6:30pm.

Please allow sufficient time to park and go through security before the event begins. There will be no parking inside the Embassy. Public parking is available on Reservoir Road.
