About this Event
Join us at Carnegie Library Hub for a free relaxed coffee morning with regular guest speakers.
Meet other parents of autistic people over coffee and biscuits.
Each month a guest speaker will will chat about a different autism related topic such as advice on the EHCP process, speech & language therapy, SEN services in the local area, transitioning young adults to the workplace, support with mental health, etc.
No diagnosis necessary.
This month our topic is After School: What's Really Going On (And What Helps)
Guest speaker Simon Airey returns to talk about the after-school crash: the meltdowns, silence, or shutdowns that hit the moment your child walks through the door. As an autistic person and educator with 25 years in the classroom, Simon explains what's actually happening and gives you practical, no-nonsense strategies for the first ten minutes home, what to avoid doing, and how to set up the rest of the evening for less friction. Coffee, honest conversation, and advice you can use that same day.
