Join local businessman and philanthropist Narayan Shrestha to hear his vision for, and work towards, creating a Boulder - Kathmandu Sister City Museum here in Boulder. This space would allow locals and visitors to engage with the long and dynamic history of Nepal through artifacts, stories, food, and performances in central Boulder. Mr. Shrestha has a singular collection of Nepalese artifacts and is passionate about sharing the culture while creating opportunities.
The Boulder and Kathmandu Sister City Project connects communities in Colorado and Nepal through long-term partnerships that promote cultural exchange, mutual support, and shared growth. Through these city pairings, communities collaborate on development initiatives that strengthen relationships and foster global understanding.

About Narayan Shrestha:
Colorado-based businessman and philanthropist Narayan Shrestha is guided by a mission to provide sustainable health and education services without personal, religious, or political prejudice. The organization he founded, Helping Hands Health Education (HHHE) works in close partnership with local communities to address critical disparities in care and access. Rooted in deep cultural understanding and long-standing local relationships, our approach prioritizes community-driven, economically viable solutions that can endure long after initial support.
HHHE’s work began in Nepal, inspired by Mr. Shrestha’s return to his home village of Khandbari in the late 1980s. During that visit, an encounter with a critically injured child—who had gone days without medical care—sparked the realization that access to even basic healthcare was profoundly limited in rural regions. This moment planted the seeds for Helping Hands: an organization built on collaboration between international medical volunteers and local communities. In 1988, HHHE organized its first medical trek, bringing doctors and nurses to provide care in remote villages. The success of these early efforts quickly expanded into mobile health camps, permanent clinics, and long-term partnerships with local governments and health professionals.
