Why Practice Naked Yoga?
Performing yoga without clothing offers several potential benefits. These can be physical, emotional, and psychological, and they often appeal to individuals looking for a deeper sense of connection with themselves and others in life.
- Enhanced Body Acceptance Practicing yoga clothing-free can help individuals embrace and accept their bodies as they are, free from societal standards and judgments. It fosters self-love, reducing body shame and insecurity.
- Increased Comfort and Freedom. Without clothing, there’s a sense of liberation and freedom. Clothes can restrict movement or cause discomfort during poses, and practicing naked allows for unrestricted movement.
- Deeper Mind-Body Connection Removing the barrier of clothing encourages participants to be more present in their bodies, enhancing mindfulness and the connection between body, mind, and breath.
- Improved Skin Health This form of practice allows the skin to breathe freely, which can be particularly beneficial for maintaining skin health during physical activity that involves sweating.
- Deeper Focus Practicing yoga unclothed ties our asana practice to the foundational observations and chief aspects of yoga—the first two limbs that precede the third limb (asana). These restraints and observations are called the Yamas (restraints) and Niyamas (observations).
In our class, you will have ample opportunities to have a very deep and connected yoga experience where you feel absolutely safe, embraced, and joyfully free.
This class is open to all experience levels, and fully inclusive to all that wish to attend. Come as you are and leave feeling renewed, connected, and liberated.
Class Tickets: Early Bird $20, Regular $35 ($40 at the door)
About Kat
Kat has been studying yoga and tantra for thirty years, coming to the conclusion that a lot of what we think we know about yoga has been buried by not only a history of invasions and occupations, but generations of "new age" innovation that has separated us from the source of its oral tradition and scriptural origins. This has greatly diluted the potency and our understandings of the original teachings.
With over 13 years of dedication to her research and work, her tenure as a Holistic Occupational Coach has been driven by a passion for integrating Tantra Yoga and shamanistic practices into therapeutic sessions. Her mission is to enhance the well-being of individuals across various industries, including care, hospitality, and medical sectors. Her holistic approach is aligned with personalized care, where she contributes diverse perspectives through a unique blend of traditional and innovative therapy methods.
In her role, she has embraced a repertoire of techniques such as Thai massage, kundalini reiki, somatic therapy, and living sutra therapeutic discussion. These methods are often further complemented through her background of research and applications in sound therapy, vocal practices, meditation, and pranayama breath practice which has proven to be profoundly beneficial for enhancing the recovery and resilience of clients. She is currently writing a book on system theory shifts our focus from the condition of the individual to addressing the big picture, the collective, and how we all tend to contribute to and feed into a system of physical, systemic, and environmental stressors.
