Join Wonder Lights for a day of hiking, exploring and enjoying the outdoors, from Hungary's highest peak to medieval ruins and a lakeside finish.Mátra is one of Hungary's most beautiful mountain regions, known for its forest trails, panoramic views and hidden corners waiting to be discovered.
We'll start near Mátraháza and make our way up to Kékestető, the highest point in Hungary. From there, we'll head downhill through the forest towards the ruins of Benevár, the remains of a medieval fortress hidden among the trees.
Our hike will finish at Sástó, where we'll explore a few more hidden viewpoints along the way. It's a chance to discover some less familiar corners of the Mátra before relaxing by the lake.
If you feel like staying a little longer, you can also join us for an optional meal before heading back to Budapest.

Meeting point: Budapest Stadion Bus Station
Destination: Mátraháza (via direct bus)
Distance: Approximately 11 km
Walking time: Around 3.5 hours
Difficulty: Moderate
PRICE & TRANSPORT
• Guided hike: 2,500 HUF per person
• Public transport: Paid separately by each participant.
