2025 Australian Folk Music Awards Artist of the Year MZAZA is opening up a door rarely left ajar: the space between writing a song and recording it. This special Thomas Dixon Centre performance offers a genuine look into the band’s creative process, as they share a handful of songs currently in development for their next album alongside cherished tracks from their previous records. This is a rare invitation into the room where the music is still breathing, still changing. Audiences will have the chance to respond to the new material, offering the band feedback as the songs continue to evolve. Expect the rich textures MZAZA is known for, featuring accordion, violin, shah kaman (Persian spike-fiddle), double bass, percussion and guitar, vocals in French and English. and melodies inspired by global traditions that have shaped our cultural makeup, in a setting built for close listening and honest connection.
The show will be followed by a brief Q&A with the musicians.
MZAZA is offering free workshops for singers and instrumentalists of all levels prior to the show. Bookings are essential, register here.
