About this Event
New York-based Japanese composer and pianist Mikiko Miyakawa, whose recording career began with an album produced by Haruomi Hosono, presents a new one-act chamber musical-theater work.
The musicians themselves portray the characters while performing the music live. At times, their instruments speak in place of words.
Luca, a mysterious salesman, suddenly enters the life of Shannon, an ambitious scientist and composer. While Shannon’s rival makes a groundbreaking discovery about a mitochondrial mutation.
Lab coats and name tags change hands—and so do the identities, chords, and fortunes of Shannon and her colleagues.
Can music save a fragile life that was never meant to be seen?
Optional:
Tokyo-inspired Zen-style meditation, accompanied by live music.
A complimentary wine tasting featuring labels by a Japanese artist behind this production’s artwork.
