About The Talk:
This dual-presentation colloquium showcases doctoral research from two CWRU PhD candidates in musicology: Ina McCormack and Katie Sucha. McCormack’s presentation, “Supernatural Schooling: How the Harp Got Its Technique,” explores how 19th-century associations with otherworldly and celestial effects fundamentally shaped the core performance techniques and formal pedagogy of the modern harp tradition. Sucha’s accompanying talk, “Musicology in the Archive,” will address archival research in musicological study (with more information coming soon).
