Well-known historian and folk singer, Yvette Staelens, tells the story and sings a selection of the seasonal songs sung by Somerset country people in the early 1900s to Cecil Sharp, the famous folk song collector.Cecil Sharp cycled around Somerset with a camera and early recording equipment collecting hundreds of folk songs that might otherwise have been lost. Many of the tunes went on to influence composers, such as Vaughan Williams, who drew on them or adapted them in their music.
