Step into the glorious surroundings of Buckfast Abbey for Music and Majesty, an unforgettable evening of choral pageantry. Exeter Chamber Choir join forces with an ensemble of strings, brass, and timpani for the splendour of Handel’s complete Coronation Anthems, including the thrilling "Zadok the Priest" which has been performed at every British coronation since 1727, interlaced with vivid instrumental highlights from Handel’s famous Music for the Royal Fireworks. The concert celebrates centuries of royal occasion, through a rich tapestry of devotion, grief, and triumph—from the haunting tenderness of Purcell’s Funeral Sentences and Howells’ "Behold, O God Our Defender" to the intimate modern lyricism of Paul Mealor’s "Ubi Caritas" and Graham Keitch’s poignant tribute "In memoriam: Ricardus Rex", sung during the re-interment proceedings for King Richard III in 2015.
