About this Event
Read & Run Chicago's Move + Book Swap events are designed to bring Chicagoans together through movement and a shared love of books - and throughout Read & Run Chicago's year-end fundraising campaign, we're hosting two at Jeni's Ice Cream (10/28 and 11/30).
Jeni's will be donating 25% of sales back to us between 4-7pm on these nights to support our free and subsidized programming throughout the Chicagoland area!
Here's how our Move + Book Swaps work:
6:00 PM – Meet at Jeni's (10/28 - Andersonville and 11/30 - Southport) at drop your book on the table
6:05 PM – Move your way (Walk at a 20:00-25:00 min/mile pace or run at a ~12:00-13:00 minute per mile pace)
6:30 PM – Return to Jeni's and grab your sweet treat
6:45 PM – Book swap + connect with fellow readers
Whether you join for one or both portions of the event, you are invited to celebrate Chicago, reading, and our programming!
Other details:
- Bag drop: You'll be able to leave items at Jeni's while you're running - one of our volunteers will be watching your stuff! (Please leave valuables at home)
- Book to donate: Bring any book to donate. We obviously are biased towards Chicago-based books, but you can bring anything you're willing to give away!
- Inclement weather plan: If it becomes unsafe to walk or run outdoors, we will cancel the movement portion and meet at 6:30 PM for ice cream and book swap portion of the event.
