Move and Be Moved: Art and ActivismIn support of social justice in housing

Let’s DO something. Because we still can do amazing things together! Because people and the earth need us urgently. Because social activism can be fun and beautiful and powerful.
Come together, join in - an afternoon of dance, live music, open mic, and group percussion. KSAMB opens with release and improvisation, carried by Tiess Mackenzie on trombone. Community samba ensemble Rhythm Agogo, with Laurent Boucher on percussion, get our feet — and hands, and bodies — moving.
This event calls on activists, artists, and anyone concerned about the polycrisis and social justice, including the desperate issue of housing in Saskatoon. With the support of Remai Modern, where we've spent this past year in residency, and alongside our musician friends, we want to shake things up and keep them moving! Resist apathy and depression in the face of the polycrisis.
The event is free, but we will be collecting donations. The money will be shared between Seventh Generation Rising, who feed and support unhoused people in Saskatoon, and Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME). These causes are not unrelated. The dispossession of people from their homes is a direct result of the commodification of land and housing, a colonial capitalist project. We must resist as our Canadian government withdraws funding from social programs, and invests in police and international warfare.
Rather than lose hope, let’s continue to imagine and activate the possibilities of life after capitalism. Let’s do it together!
