About this Event

America has had universal childcare before. Most people have never heard that story.

In Season 2 of the Motherhood Lectures, Moms First Founder and CEO, Reshma Saujani, takes on the hidden history of childcare in America: the wartime nurseries that let millions of moms go to work, the bipartisan childcare bill that came within one signature of becoming law, and the military childcare system that quietly became one of the best in the country.

Each moment was a real chance to fix childcare for every family. Each time, it slipped away. Through a series of short, historically grounded stories, Reshma connects these turning points to the choices families face today, and shows why childcare is not a personal problem but an economic one for the whole country.

Season 2 is co-produced by Moms First and baby care brand Coterie. It's hosted by NYU Law's Birnbaum Women's Leadership Center.

This event will be recorded for online distribution and includes a Q&A with Reshma following the lecture.
