A Tasting Experience by Alchème Studio ~ Japan Edition
Step into a hidden corner of Hackney Downs, within In Our Neighbourhood Apothecary, for a slow, grounding morning of sensory exploration, where soft light fills the space, steam rises gently, and each tea unfolds through the senses.
Whether you come alone or with a friend, you’ll be welcomed into a calm, open atmosphere.
What’s Included
• A seasonal welcome brew paired with a delicate wagashi-inspired treat (GF, VG)
• A seasonal matcha latte course accompanied by a wagashi-inspired treat (GF, VG)
• A hojicha-inspired tea course served with a final small seasonal treat (GF, VG)
• A carefully curated sensory atmosphere with sound, scent, and visual elements for an immersive experience
The Experience
The experience unfolds through three thoughtfully paced tea courses, inviting you to slow down and explore the relationship between tea, taste, and presence. Each tea is paired with a small seasonal accompaniment designed to complement its unique character, from the freshness of the opening brew, to the comforting creaminess of matcha, and the warm, roasted depth of hojicha.
As the teas are served, you’ll move through an immersive tasting experience, noticing how everything shifts once tea becomes a story.
You’re welcome to chat, listen, observe, or simply be present. You may bring a journal or book to reflect quietly or enjoy conversation and shared moments.
Our intention is to create a space that feels like an exhale, a space where tea become a sensory journey.

We're located right next to Hackney Downs station (or a 6 minute walk from Hackney Central station), door to the right of Tesco Express.
On your arrival, please scan the QR code on the door to ring us, this is to prevent the door bell from interrupting the experience.
