Vaiśākha – Celebration of the Buddha’s Enlightenment
The Buddha’s conception, enlightenment, and parinirvāṇa are traditionally commemorated on the full moon of the fourth lunar month – known as Saga Dawa in Tibetan and Vaiśākha in Sanskrit.
This is regarded as the most spiritually potent day of the year and falls on Sunday 31st May in 2026. We will observe this special day with sacred ceremonies led by Venerable Khyentse at the London Sakya Dzongpa Vajrayana Centre
*About the EventTārā Pūja – the ceremony of four maṇḍalas dedicated to the Buddha and the enlightened goddess of fearless love, Tārā, for removing obstacles and creating favourable conditions.
*Prosperity Pūja – the ceremony of the hundred tormas – traditional offerings dedicated to Avalokiteśvara and Jambhala, the embodiments of enlightened compassion and abundance, and gifts for the objects of compassion in the world to bring about well-being, protection and prosperity.
*The King of Prayers – the majestic aspirations of the Bodhisattvas Samantabhadra and Maitreya to augment merit dedicated to world peace, prosperity and healing.
The day will include breaks for refreshment and lunch. All are warmly welcome to attend.
