About this Event
Join the Morley Chamber Orchestra for an evening of orchestral music featuring works by three great French composers. The programme opens with Gabriel Fauré’s Overture to Masques et Bergamasques, a lively and elegant work inspired by the charm and grace of 18th-century French music.
The evening continues with Camille Saint-Saëns’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in G minor, Op. 22, featuring soloist Petros Moschos, Morley piano tutor. One of the composer’s most popular works, the concerto moves from an expressive, improvisatory opening to brilliant virtuosity and a lively, exuberant finale.
The concert concludes with Charles Gounod’s Symphony No. 1 in D major, a work full of warmth, melodic charm and orchestral colour.
