Puberty Blues | MA15+
A landmark of Australian cinema, based on the bestselling memoir by Kathy Lette and Gabrielle Carey, Puberty Blues follows teenage best friends Sue and Debbie as they navigate the boys, parties and brutal social hierarchies of Sydney’s 1970s surf culture. Directed by Bruce Beresford, the film captures the exhilaration and discomfort of adolescence with an unflinching eye, balancing humour and nostalgia with a sharp critique of the pressures placed on young women.
