Come and Learn Scottish Country Dance! Join the Fun, Fitness, and Friendship offered by Scottish Country Dance (SCD)! SCD is the social and ballroom dance of Scotland that is danced ALL OVER THE WORLD! It is historical (dates back to the 17th Century), it is contemporary (new dances written daily), it is an ancestor to US dance forms like Contra and Square Dancing, it is international*, and it is evolving!

· Yes, you and your friends can dance together!

The Milwaukee Scottish Country Dancers (MkeSCD) is offering weekly SOCIAL DANCE classes on the UWM campus in Zelazo Studio 378 (kitty-corner from the UWM Union) on Thursday evenings 7-9PM. Parking is available on the street, in the Zelazo Center parking lot, or in the Union parking structure.
We meet every Thursday [except these remaining 2026 dates: 7/23, 7/30, 8/13, 10/15, 10/22, 11/26, 12/24, 12/31]. We typically dance in groups of 6-8 people to lively music recorded by world-class Scottish musicians, but on occasion we have live music!
New Dancers are always welcome! It is an open class! Class fees are for facility rental: $5 cash, Zelle, or Zeffy.
Teacher: Rebecca Renee Winnie is fully certificated by the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (RSCDS) after a full career as a music educator. She teaches with the Milwaukee and Madison Scottish Country Dancers.

Although the class is for adults, teens ages 13 and up are welcome if accompanied by a parent/guardian. Families indeed enjoy dancing together!
*RSCDS lists 360 groups including these countries: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United States, and, of course, the UK [England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales].
