About this Event
If you love a warm, comforting bowl of ramen, come join me in the kitchen and learn how to make your own!
I lived in Tokyo for five years, and over the years I’ve continued returning to Japan, taking cooking classes and learning more about the ingredients, flavors, and techniques used in Japanese cooking. I’m excited to share some of what I’ve learned with you right here in West Michigan.
We’ll start with a simple salad and make a homemade sesame dressing to go with it. Then we’ll move on to the star of the evening, miso ramen.
I’ll walk you through how to build a flavorful miso ramen broth from scratch, including the ingredients I use and tips for recreating it at home. We’ll prepare chicken and a variety of toppings, then everyone will assemble their own ramen bowl.
Along the way, I’ll share some of my favorite tips from my time in Japan, and yes, I’ll teach you how to use chopsticks too! 🥢
Then comes my favorite part. We eat!
We’ll sit down and enjoy everything together, and before you head home, I’ll teach you how to fold an origami crane, a little My Chunky Table tradition and a fun keepsake from the evening.
No experience is needed. Whether you come on your own, bring a friend, or make it a date night, come hungry and ready to learn something new.
I can’t wait to cook with you! 🍜
