Mining Human Resources CIM Toronto Luncheon

Canada’s mining industry is entering a period of extraordinary opportunity—but its ability to grow will depend on whether we have the people to make it happen. As demand for experienced mining professionals continues to rise, companies are facing an increasingly difficult workforce challenge: a shortage of mid-career talent, escalating compensation, competition for skilled people across borders, and a generation of new graduates struggling to get the experience employers are asking for.

This panel will bring together leaders from across the mining industry to move the conversation beyond simply identifying the problem and focus on what we can actually do about it. We’ll explore how companies are developing the next generation through co-op and student programs, attracting talent from other industries, engaging senior leadership in recruitment, improving access to mining careers earlier in the education system, and supporting programs already working across the sector. The goal is not to leave the room discouraged by the size of the challenge, but with practical ideas, real examples and a clearer understanding of how we can collectively build the workforce Canadian mining will need for the future.
