Miniature Studies- A Quick Impressions Workshop with Shelly HackettJanuary 20, 2027 | 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. | Theatre Studio
Whether you work in watercolor, oil, or acrylic, this workshop will focus on painting quickly and spontaneously to capture the essence of the scene. Working in small-format surfaces from 4 x 4” to 6 x 6”, we will begin with composition studies, exploring how to simplify a subject by deciding what to emphasize and what to eliminate. Through guided exercises, you’ll do various studies to create the impression of color and light with minimal detail. We will continue to paint more miniatures using the same image to explore different approaches and versions. The goal is to evoke an experience that invites the viewer to feel the moment rather than simply see it.
