Come explore the world of acting in this fun, hands-on two-hour workshop!
Young actors will discover how to use their voice, body, and imagination to create characters and bring a story to life. We’ll learn through theater games, improvisation, character exercises, and plenty of opportunities to get up and ACT!
Then we’ll put those new skills into practice. Mrs. Beasley will write a short skit especially for the workshop, students will be cast in roles, rehearse together, and finish the afternoon by performing their play.
Our workshop will introduce skills from the Actor’s Toolbox, including voice, movement, imagination, character development, and working with other actors. We’ll also introduce the idea behind GOTE—Goal, Other, Tactics and Expectation—a simple way actors can understand what their characters want and how they interact with the other characters in a scene.
No previous acting experience is necessary! Whether your child loves performing or is simply curious about theater, the emphasis will be on creativity, participation, learning, and having fun together.

We’re considering making the first Thursday of the month a time for special Explorers workshops, including more acting, improvisation, character development and even playwriting and creating our own skits. Our October workshop is a chance to try it out and see if there’s enough interest to continue!
