Put in the bag
Warm layers, a hat, and gloves. It's mid-November and you'll be outside at every stop.
Sturdy walking shoes. The stops are on gravel and uneven ground.
A camera with a full battery. You'll want it for the run-by.
Some cash for coffee and the O&WRHS sales table aboard car 303.
Your confirmation, printed or on your phone
Please leave alcohol at home.
At the stops
You'll get off the train by step box. Stay with the group and follow the crew. Never cross a track unless a crew member tells you it's safe.
At the run-by, the crew will put you in a safe spot. Stay there until they say it's time to reboard.
The walks are short, about 750 feet at Breaker Street and 1,500 feet at Jessup. If you'd rather sit one out, stay aboard.
About the locomotive
No. 26 is close to a hundred years old. If she can't run that morning, we'll run the day behind one of Steamtown's diesels. The O&W whistle is a steam whistle, so it rides with No. 26. We'd rather tell you now than on the platform.
Weather
We run rain or shine. We only cancel for severe weather or a mechanical problem, and if that happens we'll contact you at the email on this booking and refund you.
