Get expressive and lose yourself in a mindful mandala. We will be creating a dot mandala on an 8 x 8 inch canvas using household items and acrylic paint to create a range of patterns making a colourful dot painting that is unique to each individuals style. After the workshop you can take your creation home to hang in your home.
No artistic experience required.
About
The word "mandala" comes from Sanskrit and translates to "circle." Mandalas are intricate, geometric designs that are often circular in shape and radiate outward from a central point. They are especially common in Hinduism and Buddhism. In these traditions, mandalas are often seen as representations of the cosmos or the enlightened mind. They can be used as a focus for meditation, helping practitioners to quiet their minds and achieve a state of inner peace and are sometimes used in healing practices, as they are believed to promote balance and harmony.
Your Facilitator
Suriya is from India, settled in Northern Ireland for the past 20 years. She came to realise that was interested in art, and while experimenting with different art forms bumped into Dot Mandala and loved it. She is self taught artist who also practices henna. It brings her such joy and calmness creating Mandala art - every dot placed creates the next move and it just draws itself into a beautiful pattern each time.
